Unlawful Release of Brumby Traps

Brumbies are being unlawfully released at times during the passive trapping program run by Park Staff in accordance with their management plan for excess Brumbies. These unlawful release actions are sadly putting our brumbies very existence at risk. Brumby numbers are increasing at around 10% or more depending on availability of feed. In time, like any species, excessive numbers cannot be sustained by the environment. Excess brumbies must be removed for the health of the remaining brumby population. This can be done by two methods, a) Shooting in the park, or b) passive trapping and removal with an option for rehoming and remaining numbers sent to abattoirs in as humane as possible short time frame. If passive trapping programs are compromised, opposing views will strengthen the shooting option. Which do you feel is best for our brumbies long term?
